Dolce Frégate Provence Golf Course has taken care about ecological issues for many years. We use the best organic      products to preserve nature and its soil and we have put in place an efficient water management control.

WATERING MANAGEMENT

The whole system of watering is connected to a weather station. It ensures the appropriate daily doses of chemicals according to the weather conditions and allows us to know exactly what quantity of water every part of the grass needs. Only 20 courses use this system in France.

Progressive change of the sprinklers is done for a better dispersion and lower water consumption. There are now more than 3000 sprinklers on the course. Some years ago, some parts of the course were still poorly irrigated, now the whole course is irrigated.

The system of injection regulates the PH level (level of acidity of the soil); this allows a better assimilation of fertilizing elements in the soil throughout graminaceous, and a decreasing of the use of manure.

The resort signed an agreement with the "Ministries of ecology" & "Youth & Sports" to decrease water consumption by 30% throughout the past 3 years, we managed to save up to 10% / year (from 2004 to end 2007). The objective of the agreement was to save up to 150 000 m3 of water over the past 3 years.

The installation of a new system of pumping enables us to have an optimum pressure in the drains for a better distribution of water on the course and within a short amount of time. Watering starts from 9.30pm to 5.30 am, the watering is activated 20 times / night so that the water remains in the soil without evaporating too much!  This new system of pumping enables the pumps to consume less energy.

MANAGEMENT OF ORGANIC PRODUCTS

Dolce Fregate Provence only works with approved products (European and especially national products)" Graminaceous grass". That way, we have the guarantee to only use products respectfull to the organic environment at natural and human levels (allergies, diseases...).

Use of slow dispersion manure enables the plant to assimilate up to 100% of the fertilizing elements without any loss. We use high quality slow release manures which enables us to stop the fertilizing elements from going into the soil and into the ground water.

MANAGEMENT OF GRAMINACEOUS

There is a study in progress on feasibility to change the major part of our graminaceous tees, fairways and roughs. This must allow us to save approximately 40 % of water on a yearly consumption of 500.000 m3 and lower by 50 % the annual use of fungicides and insecticides.

MANAGEMENT OF THE LAKES

There is a particular species of Carp in charge of cleaning the lakes & ensure a natural maintenance of these stretches of water.

OTHER ACTIONS

Use of hydraulic natural oil only for all our machines it does not pollute the soil in the event of a leak.

Use of 36 electric golf karts for players (no gasoline needed to avoid pollution issues, sound & exhaust fumes)

Use of products respectful to the environment: paper bags recycled

Our course is a site protected from hunting; it makes it possible for migratory birds to settle there during their trip and fauna and the flora to develop under the best conditions.
